With a car far from ideal performance, Ricardo needed conserve fuel to get a good fifth place.

When weather conditions interfere in a race, it tends to be interesting. This was exactly what happened in the 11 th round of the Grand-Am, disputed this Friday (8), in Watkins Glen, with the so-called "non-rain-wetting."the track was wet at the beginning of the race, drought in the middle of it and with rain in some periods. It was a challenge that lasted two hours.

In this type of race, the team's strategy is fundamental, which was rewarding for Krohn Racing. The team came in fifth with the duo of  Ricardo and Nic. The drivers and their strategists, the merits of completing the race with only one pit stop, but on the day the victory was with Brian Frisselle and Mark Wilkins.

Among the right decisions of the team was the choice of tyres for the start of the race. Even with the wet asphalt, they opted for the slick compound. The early laps, even with Nic Jonsson at the wheel, were complicated, but he improved the pace and after time the guys managed to fight for top positions.

"“I think that fifth place is good for us today. It was hard to keep up the pace with the car that we had today.  We had to save fuel and on a fast circuit like this that makes it hard to compete.  Also the tires were taking four or five laps to heat up after the restarts and that made it easy for cars to get around me." said Ricardo.

Ricardo was highly praised by the head of the team, David Brown, in charge of strategy. "We had a risky strategy, relying quite heavily on our two drivers, who knew very well how to deal with the situation and take care of fuel. Ricardo did a great job in this regard, "he said.

The penultimate race of the Grand-Am season is set for August 23, in Sonoma County, California. The leadership of the championship is in the hands of duo Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas.
