FIA International F3000 Championship
Spa-Francorchamps 24 August (22 laps)
Ricardo qualified a bit disappointingly in 12th position with his teammate Tuero a further ten positions down.
Qualifying:
12th, 2:12.481 +1.901
As the race started local driver Goossens from third position squeezed himself between pole man Kristensen and Pescatori and managed to take second place. He then passed Kristensen for the lead on the straight between Eau Rouge and Les Combes to the delight of the crowd. He was followed by Kristensen, Bräck, Pescatori and Müller. It did not take long for Müller to pass both Pescatori and Bräck and there was further frustration for the Swede as Pescatori then passed him for 4th.
Müller was in great form and soon also passed Kristensen and Goossens to take the lead and opened out a gap of 10 s.
Further down in the field Ricardo had managed to pass Gollin and da Matta for 9th. With six laps to go the infamous Spa-Francorchamps rain started and Müller slowed down and was passed by both Goossens and Kristensen but in the next moment the red flags were waved as cars were aquaplaning all over the track. So with the last laps nullified Müller remained the winner while Ricardo was classified down in 9th position and Tuero in 17th.
