Ricardo Zonta 2005

After Ralf Shumacher had a crash Ricardo was moved up to race driver. Ricardo had this to say on the Toyota f1 site :Ricardo Zonta said: “Yesterday’s events mean this is not an ideal situation for the whole team, and I’m especially sorry for Ralf. Of course I’m glad to be back with a chance to race the car, but on the other hand it’s a very difficult situation. But I have been called up to race once before on a Saturday with a previous team so I will try to make the most out of the rest of the weekend.”

Ricardo qualified in 13th place for the us gp, Ricardo had this to say about qualifying "I’m happy for Jarno, but those were certainly not the ideal circumstances for my first qualifying run in eight months. There was a bit of confusion this morning after the accidents yesterday and we didn’t do much running overall. Even so, qualifying went okay. Going out first is hard because that’s when the track is at its most slippery, and I found myself sliding quite a lot. But I’m satisfied with my lap and happy to be have another chance to race.”

Due to the tyre situation in the US, Toyota decided not to run there cars for the safety of the drivers so Ricardo did not get to race!
