Ricardo Zonta 2005

The formula 1 road show returned after the summer break to the new Istanbul park circuit in Turkey. First practice saw Ricardo finish fourth fastest in the times with a time of 1:28.810s and then in second practice on Ricardo's last lap he posted the fastest time, over half a second up on Pedro de la Rosa's time with a time of 1:25.583s, Ricardo completed 25 laps in the first session and 32 laps in the second session. Ricardo had this to say on the Toyota-f1 site: “The Istanbul Park is an enjoyable circuit to drive and that was a good day. It’s an anti-clockwise circuit, but it doesn’t feel too hard on the neck because the toughest left-handers are downhill, unlike Interlagos. There was a lot of traffic and yellow flags but I eventually found a clear lap at the end of the session. The lap time is a lot quicker than we expected because the track surface is better. Of course the grip improved throughout the day, and we also saw some tyre graining, but we have plenty of data to look at tonight. It’s looking good so far.”
